How it all started
Hello! I’m Alexxis, the founder of Tsuga Snapshots and the person behind the camera.
I grew up on a island in Washington State where I gained an interest in capturing the beauty of nature at a young age. Art has been my life for as long as I can remember and I express it in many ways.
I don’t remember when I first picked up a camera but I do know I’ve always yearned to capture special moments in my own life. I want to hold onto the emotions, feelings, thoughts, and beauty of everyday life.
I spent years documenting my life. From the warm glow of desert sunsets to the energy of hiking through snow in Norway, I’ve framed and held onto those memories.
I established Tsuga Snapshots in August of 2023 to help others hang onto their most precious memories.
Behind the name
Growing up in Washington meant spending a lot of time outdoors. I often went to the beach but preferred adventures in the mountains. When I was a teenager, I loved going camping in the Mount Baker area. I spent as much time as I could in the sub-alpine where the trees were stunted and gnarly due to the harsh growing conditions. I soon found a love for mountain hemlocks (Tsuga mertensiana) and stole “Tsuga”, the genus, for my business name.
My approach
I strive to create a photo documentary of your most special moments. My goal is to capture a mix of candid shots with posed portraits.
There will be times when I just let you walk about and be yourself. I love to catch the emotions you express in those moments. The emotions that cease when you become too focused on posing for the camera.
While I love candid shots, sometimes I see perfect lighting and want to capture a posed photo. If you have some ideas of specific photos you would like, I will have you pose in the perfect light to capture them.
You’re not comfortable in front of the camera? No need to worry! We will work together to create photos that you will love.
The process:
Starting with our first contact, my goal is open communication to ensure you a receiving the service you want. We will go over the obvious (time and place) but I will also ask you about what style you’re looking for, if you have poses you want to incorporate into the shoot, and anything else I should know.
We will meet at the agreed-upon time at the location of your choosing and have fun!
Following the photo session, I will process all photos and send them to you when finished.
